In the Senior School, life centres on the beautiful mediaeval and 18th century accommodation houses that line The Liberty. Each House is the focal point for group identity, friendship and relaxation, with opportunities for healthy rivalries between Houses in sport, drama and academic achievement. There is plenty to do after school and at weekends , for boarders and day pupils who will find indoor, outdoor and musical activities to suit wide-ranging interests. Pupils can also enjoy the benefits of living in the heart of a vibrant market town, with its diversity of artistic and cultural events. Houses at Wells consist of between 20 and 30 boarding pupils, reinforcing the greatly cherished family atmosphere. We seek to preserve it by striking the right balances, by emphasis on personal responsibility and giving freedom within sensible constraints. The boarding family is complemented and strengthened by the day members of houses; these are thus vibrant and exciting communities for day and boarding pupils alike, with a secure and intimate boarding ambience.
